What is Naturopathic Medicine?

Naturopathic medicine is the art and science of diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease using natural therapies and gentle techniques. It is based upon the foundation of “Vis medicatrix naturae” or the healing power of nature. The body can heal itself, as when a wound mends on its own. Nature provides healing remedies, such as botanical herbs to facilitate this process. Treatments, supported by scientific research, address the underlying cause of disease rather than simply using a “band-aid” approach to suppress symptoms of the illness.

Naturopathic Metamorphosis

I truly believe in the concept of metamorphosis in that our bodies are constantly changing day to day, year to year – with every stage of life brings new requirements and ever-changing needs. Whether it is a newborn to an infant, from childhood to a pubescent teenager, our dietary needs are different depending on each stage of life. As a Naturopathic Doctor, it is my goal to find out what each child’s body needs and assist parents to help achieve optimal health for their children.

Children’s Multi-Vitamins

Many parents invest money into buying Multi-Vitamins for their children, but have you ever really looked at the back of the bottle in the list of Non-Medicinal ingredients? From sugar, colors, dyes, and binders, these can actually harm your child’s body. Ask Dr. Nyla to assess your child and find out what your child needs to ensure optimal growth and development with good quality vitamins and nutrients.

Recurrent Throat/Ear Infections

Does your child suffer from recurrent throat/ear infections? Have they been on continuous rounds of Antibiotics? If this is the case, your child will greatly benefit from seeing a Naturopathic Doctor as our goal is to strengthen the immune system. Your immune system comes from the intestine. Did you know that Antibiotics are broad spectrum and therefore they kill everything, the good guys and the bad guys? This lack of good bacteria creates an unhealthy environment where the intestines are then vulnerable to viruses and bacteria. It is important to heal the gut and strengthen the immune system.

Allergies

Does your child suffer from constant allergies or cold symptoms? Do they consistently have congestion, dark circles under their eyes, a runny nose, or a dry cough? These could be due to environmental or food sensitivities. Rather than bombarding their immune system with puffers and nose sprays, Dr. Nyla helps to rid of yeast and bacteria and cleanse their body to allow less of an inflammatory response to the allergens to which they are sensitive. Get to the root of the problem rather than just putting a band-aid on the symptoms. Your child will thank you!

Food Allergy Testing

Do you or your child suffer from symptoms related to certain food sensitivities? Dr. Nyla is excited to introduce the most accurate and scientific method to test for food allergies – the IgG and IgE Food Antibody Assessment! If you suffer from hives, skin rashes, eczema, fatigue, headaches, acne, itching of the throat, a bloated feeling, dark circles around the eyes, joint pain or mood swings due to hyperactivity or depression, please call for more details.

Hair Analysis: For those who are not familiar with a hair analysis, a patient’s hair sample can tell us a great deal of information about a person’s mineral and heavy metal status. It can identify an individual’s mineral deficiencies and toxins.

Urine Tests: These are on-site urine tests that help track a patient’s individual progress. They track calcium absorption, adrenal stress, and free radical status.

Blood Type Tests: Wondering whether you are a Blood Type O, A, B, or AB? Let us tell you in this two-minute test with just a prick of the finger.
